My Essential Packing List for Glastonbury
Disclaimer: Myself and my website are not connected to or have any other commercial or other association with Glastonbury festival. All advice is based on my own personal experience.
Glastonbury is upon us! After last year's mega beauty packing list, many of you requested a general packing list for this year's festival. So, I've pulled one together with the help of some seasoned festival goers, mainly my pal Chez, who has been attending for seven years and was even proposed to there by her now-husband Chris.
Disclaimer: We glamp at Pennard Orchard, where we enjoy the luxury of double beds and warm showers without queues. However, my list includes items that will be useful whether you're camping amongst it all or living it up in a Winnebago.
Sleeping and Tent Essentials:
1. Ear Plugs (Wax Ones)
It’s a festival. It’s loud. Enough said.
2. Eye Mask
Whether you’re hitting the sack at sunrise or just need to block out the light for a good lay-in, an eye mask is essential.
3. Warm Hat and Socks for Bed
British weather is unpredictable. Stay cozy with a warm hat and socks for those chilly nights.
4. Sleeping Bag, Bed Sheet, and Pillow
A good night’s sleep is key. I always take my own pillow because nothing else compares. A sleeping bag is essential unless duvets are provided, and a bed sheet makes an airbed feel more like home.
5. Air Bed
Five nights on the ground? No, thank you. An air bed is a must.
6. Chargers
Portable chargers are a lifesaver if your tent doesn’t have plugs. I swear by Anker ones and always carry one around the festival.
7. Tape for Removing Glitter
It just makes sense.
8. Nail File
Someone will need one, and you'll be the hero who has it.
9. Small Scissors
Same logic as the nail file—essential for various small emergencies.
10. Travel Bottles
For your liquids like foundation. No need to carry full sizes and add extra weight.
11. Torch/Torch Key Ring
Essential for those middle-of-the-night loo trips.
12. Handheld Fan
Glasto can get hot, and a handheld fan is perfect for those stuffy moments in the tent.
13. Hanger
Even in a tent, it's nice to avoid creased clothes. Hanging things from the tent poles also saves floor space.
14. Flags
If you’re in the main camping area, a flag on your tent helps you find it at any hour.
Medical Box
Look, nobody wants any sort of emergency, but life happens and you’ll want to be prepared for anything. This box includes:
o Eye drops/spray
o Ibuprofen gel
o Painkillers
o Hayfever tablets and nose spray
o Aclivor (for cold sore sufferers)
o Bite cream
o Hand soap
o Anti-bacterial spray/gel
o Rehydration tablets/sachets
o Toothbrush & paste
o Hand towel (for face)
o Large towel (for shower)
o Disposable razor
o Shower gel
o Deodorant
o Shower cap
o Flip flops
o Dry shampoo
o Plasters
o Blister plasters
o Toilet roll
Out and About
This is where the Uniqlo bumbag really shines. Here's what you'll need:
1. Disposable Macs (to sit on)
Hopefully, you won’t have to wear one, but sitting on one beats a muddy bum.
2. Anti-Bac
For obvious reasons.
3. Hat
Keep that sun (let's stay positive) off your head.
4. Jumper/Leggings
Perfect for when the evenings get chilly.
5. Toilet Roll or Tissue
Trust me, there won’t be any left in the toilets after day one.
6. SPF Over Makeup Spray
Easy application. Here's my SPF edit with my faves.
7. Travel Fragrance
Because we all want to smell fresh.
8. Lip Balm
Preferably one with SPF.
9. Stanley Cup for Ice
This will be your biggest flex. Bring your own booze, but no G&T is complete without ice. A Stanley Cup keeps it cold for hours.
10. Pre-Cut Lime
I like my drinks to be proper.
11. Reusable Cups for Drinking
Obvious necessity.
12. Water Bottle for Refills
Stay hydrated!
13. Digital Camera
For capturing the most epic, rogue pics.
Outfits
For outfits, I practically live in my Levi’s denim shorts, Hunter walking boots (don’t even think about packing heels), T-shirts, and hoodies. Then, I cover myself head to toe in glitter. Remember, this is Glasto, not Ibiza. Lol, kidding. Obvs I’m going to bring a shit load of sequins with me.
A couple of other tips. Have a blow-dry the day before. At least you’ll have freshly washed hair once over the weekend.
Also, if you’re texting friends trying to meet up, always add the time and day to the message Ie: “Sharon, we’re at West Holts stage to the left of the guy dressed as a glitter ball. SENT Saturday 8.25 pm’. Why, you may ask. Well, the signal can be shocking and you don’t want to search for your mates three hours after they text you. Genius right?
Packing for Glastonbury might seem daunting, but with the right essentials, you’ll be prepared for anything the festival throws your way. Whether you're camping in the thick of it or enjoying the luxuries of glamping, this list has you covered. Now, all that's left is to enjoy the music, the atmosphere, and the unforgettable experience that is Glastonbury!
Love,
Lisa
