Introducing Velvet Smoke’s New Launch Salty Rims

I am beyond excited to introduce the highly anticipated new launch from Velvet Smoke, Salty rims.  If there’s one thing I enjoy almost as much as a glass of Champagne, it’s a margarita. Whether salty, frozen, or spicy, I’ll have two any way they come.

Inspired by our love of margaritas, we’ve created a beautiful set of four stunning, hand-blown glasses and a chic salt tray for that perfect, spicy, zesty, or salty rim of choice. Available in three gorgeous colourways – blue, orange, and blush – there’s a set to match every mood and occasion, no matter what your vibe is.

Since these babies are handmade with love, they’ll be available for pre-order starting today – Saturday 14th September (which also happens to be my birthday… can you think of a better present?!) and will ship a few weeks later.

To celebrate this exciting launch, I’m sharing my top three tequila-based cocktail recipes with you all. One for each glass colour and mood.

Each of these recipes make one drink, so just multiply the ingredients by the size of your party. Let’s go…

The Classic Margs

There’s always time for a margarita! This is the ultimate classic margarita recipe which you’ll go back to forever. Just like a margarita, the blue set is classic and timeless.

What you’ll need:

·       60 ml (2 oz) of your fave tequila. Mine’s Casamigos FYI

·       30 ml (1 oz) lime juice (freshly squeezed is best ie: the only option, don’t be buying any of that bottled stuff

·       30 ml (1 oz) triple sec (I love using Cointreau)

·       Salt for rimming the glass (I adore the Cornish Sea Salt Spicy Margarita salt. Get it here

·       Lime wedge for garnish

·       Ice

How to make:

Prep the glass: Fill your salt tray, rub a lime wedge around the rim of your glass and dip it in salt to coat the rim.

Mix the drink: In a cocktail shaker, combine the tequila, lime juice, and triple sec. Add ice and shake well.

Serve: Fill the prepared glass with ice and strain the margarita mixture into the glass.

Garnish: Add a lime wedge to the rim of the glass for garnish. Enjoy!

For those who aren’t a fan of margaritas… are you okay? Just kidding, I haven’t forgotten about you with my perfect Paloma recipe! They’re such a refreshing cocktail. The orange set oozes holiday vibes. Just imagine yourself sipping on one of these babies on the beach with your best friends. Here’s my recipes.

What you’ll need?

·       60 ml (2 oz) tequila

·       60 ml (2 oz) grapefruit soda. I love the Fever tree one. You can use grapefruit juice and soda water if you can't find that mix.

·       15 ml (0.5 oz) lime juice (freshly squeezed)

·       15 ml (0.5 oz) Agave (optional, for sweetness)

·       Salt for rimming the glass and a pinch to add the drink

·       Grapefruit wedge or lime wedge for garnish

·       Ice

How to make:

1.     Prep the glass: Fill your salt tray, rub a grapefruit or lime wedge around the rim of a glass and dip it in salt to coat the rim.

2.     Mix the drink: In a glass, combine the tequila, grapefruit soda, lime juice, agave and a pinch of salt. Stir well.

3.     Serve: Fill your Salty Rims glass with ice and pour in.

4.     Garnish: Add a grapefruit wedge or lime wedge to the rim of the glass for garnish.

Our Blush glasses are the most beautiful shade of pink. They’re so chic and will look beautiful in any home, no matter what your colour palette is.
